Full-depth hanging is not always necessary. A shallower section works for shoes, bags and accessories, while coats can hang in one deeper section or sideways.

White and beige matte fronts, a mirrored wall and light visually expand the space. Natural walnut and oak veneer, taupe and sage make the home interior cosy, while black, brown, graphite or wenge look refined and elegant.

For a large square hallway, almost any option will work; for a long passage, shallower hinged sections, sliding-door units or a full-height wardrobe tower are better. Lightweight designs are in style: smooth handleless fronts, open niches and a full-length mirror — ideal for smaller spaces.
